One of the signs of progress in today’s society is the rapid development of technology. It brings innovation to the society as well as well as to the people within the society. Behind this progress lie the two properties. Allow me to tackle first about the positive; we are not denying the fact that the rapid development of the technology gives us convenience, consolation and happiness because difficulties tasks are made easy and fast. We save time, Isn’t it very beautiful? Now, the question would be; are there really negative propensities? If you try to analyze this would be the altitude of the people. They have eyes but they cannot be, why? It is because they are being blinded by the consolation they got from the development of the technology. By merely looking at the attitude of the people who are influenced by this development, you can immediately notice the negative effect. Some people become lazier. They rely so much on the technology. They became dependent and abusive. To be more particular, I would like to use the internet as an example. As we all know, it has been useful but at the same time an accomplice. It is because sin can be easily committed in only a “click”. People who have hidden agenda of using this means maximize their time in abusing it. Another thing is the diminishing “Industriousness” of some students particularly some seminarians of the Rogationist regarding research work. Why? It is because they prefer using the internet rather than to research the books in the library. So, studying is somehow becoming effortless in a sense that they will just click and click unlike working in the library; they have to research thoroughly and wisely. On the other hand, it is useful because it can store many documents and so on and so forth. There are so many positive effects to mention. Like easy communication wherein people who abroad and who went abroad and who are far from their love ones can easily communicate without difficulty. To conclude, I can say that “challenges” were long time companion if this development. Find it won’t come to realize the foolishness that they have been doing.

To conclude, I can say that media is a gift of God intended to be use for the greater good. However we can not deny the fact that there were abuses in the past which is also happening today. We could not just blame the church because she is doing her part since then. Still , depends on the people who are using it. My only advice is if you are tempted to do what is evil just remember the “perfect communicator’ who suffered for us and who gave us this kind of communication means, in particular, the internet.

            It is hard for a person who does not have any idea regarding advertisements. This is because advertising is all about us. It touches our lives every day in a direct manner. From the moment we wake up in the early morning, we begin to feel the presence of advertising trough the radio. When we lift our newspaper, we come face to face with hundreds s of advertisement in its pages, in our way school or office, we encounter signs in the interior and exterior of moving vehicles advertising a wide variety of items, merchandise, ideas, services. Somewhere along the way, advertising signs of various shapes, sizes and color can be seen on walls, post, and buildings. When we television we3 expose ourselves to the message of advertiser.

            These are some of the persist manifestations of advertising. Modern advertising that can make people work harder so they can afford the use of better products

Besides these, advertising touches us in an infinite variety of forms. Some direct, others indirect, some subtle, other various and even blatant.

            This pervasiveness of advertising, it’s phenomenal growth as an industry, it’s increased power to influence our behavior and help shape our precisions have made advertising the object of much criticism. For years, economist and intellectual, both in the Philippine and abroad, have joined the legion of critics attacking advertising. For its alleged adverse economic and social effects. Some have even advocated its abolition and this is not surpassing centuries ago, when economist and government leader first because aware of the growing influenced of advertising, they almost succeeded in taxing out of existence.

            But they have failed their loud and vigorous attacks, in fact, have only given advertising renewed strength. Today advertising has achieved a degree of development unheard of in the past. And from all indications, advertising is here not only to stay, but play an increasingly important role in society.

 

My reflection about 100 years of cinema many places the desire has been expressed for guidelines for reflection and practical suggestions aimed at helping parents and teachers to awaken children and adolescent to the problems posed on their level by the presence in their lives of the moving image and in particular of the motion picture, which this year one hundredth birthday. Nowadays, youngest levels on the society consider the television as the normal household appliance, regardless of what it transmit, as a result, more hours are spent in front of the TV screen by small children and adolescent than by the successive age group, since youngsters who are self sufficient enough to go out on their own, go to the cinema if they want to see  a film. I learned that there are outlines they propose for works and reflection suitable for the various age groups that are presented there. I read those criteria they are essential to recognize the vital importance of spiritual and religion values, which express human kind’s relationship with God and reach their culmination in the faith.

As my conclusion about 100 years of cinema I ask myself at this point how cinema express transcendence it is really in great film spectacles’ aimed at the masses, dealing with biblical in other words, it is necessary to have the gift of faith to be capable of making the children and adolescent as a good religious in our society. But most of all we need also to educate ourselves so that the children would imitate ask and last those criteria should be approved so that it lead the children in good ways.    

Communio et progressio tackles about so many thing. Honestly, I find it hard to reflect. So, I will just focus on the words that struck me. The Church sees these media as “Gifts of God” which in accordance with his providential design, unite men in brotherhood and so help them to cooperate with his plan for their salvation.

            I do admit that no matter how far men have been, we cannot deny the fact that there is someone who is in work with us and that is God. Imagine, without the giver of the necessary graces needed for the development of this social communication we couldn’t have reach this far. Considering the innovations, advancement, and unity we can say that it was done by men but men themselves can’t do it. “Video meliora proboque deteriora sequor.” It means “I see what is good and I approve it but I follow what evil.” (St. Augustine) we know that the various means of social communication is indeed good and a big help to our society but there are times that people are tempted to abuse it. As a result, instead of progress it becomes the source of distress in our society. In this situation, we will be able to realize that someone is in work with us. God provides us what we need in order to overcome all the temptations, “Gratia perfecit naturam”.

            To sum it up, I can say that though we’ve faced many advancement regarding social communication we must not forget the author of this who accompany us during our endeavor in making this field reach its full realization and that is to use it for his greater glory.

The priestly office, as essentially defined by the church is today carried out in an entirely new situation, which comes light as result of mankind’s new needs, and from the nature of modern civilization.

            The main factors today determining mankind needs arise from the heightened regard for the human person, or the progressive alternation of religious sense. If not always openly and in fact, at least virtually, the dignity of very man is acknowledged, his right to progress, to manifest his mind freely, to have a part in his own dominion in the world grows more complete, in conjunction with great changes in the society, less room is granted to the traditionally accepted forms of Christian life.

              Through the various ways of social communication, young men who today enter seminary are closely attached to the kind of society, and their outlook is affected by problems concerning religion, especially priestly activity and life. They often approach theological studies with a sincere will to serve God and men in Priestly life, but without having that which was formerly a normal thing, namely a confident clear grasp of the benefits of religion, of which they must at some time become the herald and administrators. These things from time to time cause grave difficulties to arise in the seminary, yet they form the true and principal object of education, to which superiors must give special care and attention.

            The young men, then, must be so trained this particular situation, which they at present experience along with the whole church, way not only not lead them into any danger of spiritual collapse, but in fact stimulate them, with firm hope and faith in God, to the new ways and means of easier communication with the men of today.

            This up-to-date adjusting of priestly activity and life is at present causing anxious concern in many minds, and raising all kinds of Questions. Everywhere hence, too, there has been much discussion and much has been proposed concerning the priest himself, his nature, his proper place in society, his style of life, his better preparation for more effective fulfillment his task the seminary, obviously must never be unaware of these things nor ever neglect them, but on the other hand must carefully guard and presence what priesthood posses of certain and lasting good.       

Inter Mirifica underlines the purpose of various means of social communication and the potentials it could bring to each member of the society. Its fate defends on us and on how we use it. It means that we should do our part considering its vulnerability. Every choice or decision we make must be logical and not contrary to reason for its effect might lead us to greater good or worst to doom.

Inter Mirifica also gave some suggestions with regard to the proper usage of the various means of social communication namely radio, television, press and cinema. I really appreciate it because it provides me some insights regarding the proper way of using it. Another thing is it mentions the responsibilities of the Church, parents, Government, press and many other people who are in some way have the connection in the fields of social communication.

To conclude, I can say that the various means of social communication are very sensitive to the point that a single error or mistake could be the downfall of many. So, we must be very careful in using it. It is our obligation to use it for the greater good because we have the capacity to reason out and discern what is good and what is evil.
